The Curve

Furniture defines space by making the user walking along its form: the curve.
Once inside, the curve – resembling some kind of sculpture- shapes the form of the store, sets the walking paths, the moments and spaces within it.
This line is responsible for organizing the public and private domain which are close to one another but do never cross each other.
In the middle of the store, as the core of the whole space, the user is supported by a big marbled counter, lifted up, built in a three-level sequence, three different moments for communicating with the user.
Paradoxically, the user feels himself invited to walk along the space, where a sense of embracement prevails but without the need to actually have to walk it around. Finally, this curved-shape gesture becomes an absolute reference in the space, setting the limits for the relation between materials – gross and refined, concrete and marble, steel and wood.

A Curva

O mobiliário define o espaço conduzindo o utilizador através da forma que desenha: a curva.
Uma vez no interior, a curva - como se de uma escultura se tratasse - molda a forma da loja, define os percursos, os momentos e os espaços. É esta linha definidora que organiza os fluxos público e privado, que se tocam, mas não se cruzam.
Ao centro, assumindo-se como o âmago do espaço, o utilizador é apoiado por um bloco de mármore, elevado, esculpido numa sequência de três níveis, três momentos de comunicação distintos com o usuário.
O utilizador é constantemente convidado a percorrer o espaço, prevalecendo a sensação de que este o abraça sem, paradoxalmente, sentir a necessidade física de o percorrer. Em grande medida, o gesto da curva torna-se omnipresente, concretizando o projecto materialmente na simbiose entre o bruto e o nobre, o betão e o mármore e o metal e a madeira.
